How Towable Propane Generators Happened

With the EPA regulations on Diesel becoming increasingly strict, towable generators are getting bigger and have more after-treatments. These required “evolutions” have increased the overall cost of diesel towable generators.

Kohler developed towable propane generators as a result of two events. Kohler customers had been asking for a gaseous prime power solution. At the same time, Kohler’s engine supplier came up with and engine that was rugged enough to handle prime applications.

Customers like these generators because they are easy to start, self priming, have cleaner emissions and are easy to maintain. They also find the fuel easy to deal with because it doesn’t age, there are no containment issues, and they don’t have fuel-spill issues like they face with comparable diesel units.
